KTM services disrupted by train derailment

KUALA LUMPUR: KTM Commuter services in the city were disrupted on Monday morning when a cargo train on its way to Ipoh from Port Klang, derailed near Bank Negara here.

According to KTM’s acting Corporate Communications manager Mohd Fazli Ismail, services are expected to resume by 2pm, once clearing works on the track are completed.

“The incident was reported at 12.50am and no casualties were reported. Investigations to find out the cause of the derailment was underway,” he said.

A statement from KTM Bhd said its Intercity services and the Kuala Lumpur-Ipoh-Kuala Lumpur shuttle service would also be affected.

The other affected services are: - The Rawang-Seremban service will terminate at the Kepong Station and passengers will be taken to Kuala Lumpur Sentral by shuttle service and continue their journey to Seremban by commuter.

- The Seremban-Rawang service will terminate at Kuala Lumpur Sentral and passengers will be transferred to the Kepong station to continue their trip to Rawang by train.

- Shuttle trains from Kuala Lumpur Sentral to Kepong will operate every 60 minutes but service will return to every 30 minutes after 2pm.

- The Port Klang to Sentul service will end at the Kuala Lumpur station.
